Answers:
Have to say have had the same problem!.

Here is the best I recently learned!.
2 cups of water to every cup of rice!.
Measure water in a measuring cup but rice in a DRY MEASURE CUP!.
Bring water to a boil then add rice!. Stir in quickly!.
Cover and reduce heat to low!.
Set timer for twenty minutes and ignore until timer goes off!.

Usually works very wellWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know what you're doing wrong -- all I know is to tell you how "I" do it!

Start with long grain rice!. Whatever amount you want to cook (like 1/2 cup) you use twice the amount of water!. I measure mine, wash it in a colander to get the starch off of it, then put it in a microwavable bowl!. Add the water with a little salt, and cook for 5 minutes, stir, cook for 5 minutes more until rice is tender!.

Then I add a little butter and pepper and I'm good to go!

Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No rinsing, no salt!. Just a decent pan with a lid that seals!. 4 cups water to boil, when boiling add 2 cups rice and stir, let come to boil again without lid on, when it boils again turn it down to almost nothing and then add the lid!. About 10 minutes into it, turn burner off!. Wait about 15 more minutes, take lid off, and fluff with a fork!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put you uncooked rice in a strainer and rinse it until the water runs clear!. If you using a rice cooker (not a steamer), use equal parts rice to water!. After the rice cooker clicks off, unplug and let sit for five minutes before serving!.

If you do not have a rice cooker, rinse as described above, and do the finger nail measure told by the Hawaiian above!. Turn your pot on high and as soon as it comes to a good boil, put a lid on it and immediately turn the heat to low!. Look at the time and do not lift that lid for exactly 20 minutes!. (No Peaking!)
Works every time!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rice !.!.that's my thing child !.!.!.let tell you how to get it right!.

you need

1 cup of basmati rice
half a cup of vermicelli
2 cups of warm water
half a soup spoon of salt
a soup spoon of butter

How to :

- Add the butter in a pot, and once melted add the vermicelli and keep on shaking them until they start getting golden!.

- Add the rice and the salt and shake it with the rest for less than a minute and then add the two cups of warm water!.

- keep the heat on, and once it starts boiling bring the heat really low and leave it for 15 - 20 minutes!.

Now you have the best rice you will ever eat in your life!.

It would be nice to eat it with some fired meat balls and fried potato cubes!. And don't forget a salad as a side dish!. It is good to eat enough fibers!. Have some black grapes juice with it, they blend really well!.

Enjoy your meal with a smile on your faceWww@FoodAQ@Com

OK!. Don't rinse!. Boil 1!.5 cups of water and 1T of butter!. When it comes to a boil, add 1 cup of rice and cover!. DON'T TOUCH IT! Turn the stove down to simmer, and let it hang out for 15 minutes!. After 15, take it off the heat and leave the lid on - still don't touch it! After 10 minutes, fluff it with a fork!. It will be perfect!.

For more flavor, you can add any kind of seasonings and bay leaf to the water!. Salt and pepper is fine!. You can also use broth instead of water!.

Don't be afraid of rice! Just leave it alone and let it do it's thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I hope we're talking about regular medium-grain rice here!. One cup rice, 2 cups water and a pinch of salt!. You may add a bit of butter if you like!. Bring to a good rolling boil and then turn the heat down to its lowest setting!. (if you're using a gas stove, just a whispy flame is all you need) Clap a tight-fitting lid on it and set your timer for 20 minutes!. Resist the urge to lift the lid and peek! If you washed the rice beforehand, use 2 cups of water minus one tablespoon, to account for the water that's on the rinsed rice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here's a video from the experts (see link)!. It's how I do it!. Twice the water as the rice!. Bring water to boil in heavy pan, add rice, stir, cover, turn to low, time exactly 20 minutes!. No rinsing, no fuss, no muss!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you are just talking as a side dish, and you're having trouble elsewhere - use either the Uncle Ben's 90 second microwave packs or the Sucess Rice, steam in bag bags!. You CANNOT mess those up!.

With a rice maker, I've just rinsed it several times, put in the amount of water required according to my instructions, and steamed!. Easy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rinsing gets rid of all the dust and grit!.
I always boil mine in a large pot of unsalted water!.
Set the timer for 15 minutes when the water returns to the boil, but until then stir from time to time, so that it doesn't catch!.
When it is at the degree of doneness you wish drain and let drip for a few minutes turn out onto a plate and fluff up with a pair of forks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

im from hawaii and we eat rice for every meal so listen up!.!.!.!.
wash the rice 3 times in the cooker container with regular water!. dump as much of the water out as possible then fill it back up untill it is a finger nails length over the rice!. COOK IT! works everytime no matter how many cups you make! goodluck! and rice is suppose to be sticky! if it isnt sticky then its not real rice! oh p!.s!. i use the japanese rice called nishiki and it can be found in any grocery stores oriental isle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Like the other person said, I often use the 90 second Uncle Ben's rice in the microwave!.

There is another thing that I've learned from my parent's Persian friends: They slice thin potatos, and put these at the bottom when they cook rice!. Their rice is the BEST I have tasted!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Jasmine Rice + Rice cfooker = Perfect rice for me everytime!. Depends on the brand also!. I tend to stay away from Kroger brand unless im making it on the stove!. Rice cookers steam it at the right temp, and it usually comes out perfectly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if your making rice for 2 to 4 people,
put 2 cups of rice into a pot and a little bit of water and whatever kind of other things you want, and then bring it to a boil!.
but when your boiling, DO NOT PUT THE LID ON!.
when the waters almost gonee!. then its done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rice in a rice cooks is easy!.!.!.

Basic rice to water ratio: 1 cup of rice to 1!.5 cups of water!.
I actually use 1!.25 to 1!.33 cups of water!.!.!. I think 1!.5 cups of water is a little too much for my taste!.

Dump all in rice cooker and push button!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well since that's the case go to your local Deli/Plate Lunch/Chinese restaurant and purchase a side order of rice!.

If you really looking for a delicious rice, try this!. It is not easy, but enjoyable during cooking and more enjoyable when eating it!

1) Rinse 2 cups of Basmati rice 2-3 times!.
2) Add 4 cups of water and 3 tablespoons of salt to the rice and let it stands for at least 1 hour!.
3) Bring 6 cups of water to boil!.
4) Add the rice+water+salt (from step 2) to the boiling water!.
5) Stir it occasionally and let it boils again!. From now on, every 30 seconds check one or 2 grains of rice and when it is not dry in the center anymore, it is done!. DO NOT OVERCOOK!. The rice should become longer but keeps its shape!.
6) Pour the rice and water in a strainer which its wholes are small (should not let the rice pass the wholes)!.
7) Rince the rice inside the strainer with some fresh water!.
8) Put the pot on the stove, pour some vegetable oil and 4 tablespoons water in it and let it get hot!.
9) Pour the rice on the hot water-oil mixture and close the lid tight!.
10) Set the heat to high for a minute!.
11) Put some Butter (usually 1-2 tablespoon is enough)on the rice and close the lid again!.
12) Set the temperature to as low as possible!. If you can put a special methal plate on the stove and under the pot, it modifies the temperature and the rice cooks better!.
13) After about 30 minutes, it should steam!. If you lift the lid a little bit, you will see the steam coming out (be carefull, do not burn yourself with the steam)!.
!4) It should be done and ready to eat in about 5-15 minutes, but it grately depends on how low or high the temperature is!. The slower you cook, the better!.
15) 2 cups rice should be enough for 2 persons, but if my directions works well, you will eat all the rice by yourself at once!!!

By experience, you will know how many minutes you should boil or how hot the oven should be, or how much salt and butter is better!. You will change all these per your apetite!.

BTW: Sometimes at the buttom of the pot a layer of fried rice will be formed, which is the most delicious part!

Do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions!
Good Luck!
