Can you wash popcorn kernels?!

Question: Can you wash popcorn kernels!?
I found a dead fly in my bag of kernels so I wanted to know if I could wash them and not ruin the popcorn!. Anyone!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Why bother!? Popcorn needs to get up to 180C (or 356F) to explode, so any evil "fly juju" is burned away!. If you're completely weirded out by it, pop the popcorn and then throw it out for the birds - they won't care!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It will ruin the popcorn!. i know it's gross to think about, but lots of vegetable products have had exposure to insects at some point!. The high temperature you use to pop the corn will kill any bacteria!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think so, if they get wet they will swell up and not cook properly, I don't think I would try it, popcorn isn't very expensive, I would buy a new bag!.
good luck
