What is in coffee that makes you go to the bathroom?!

Question: What is in coffee that makes you go to the bathroom!?
Could it be the caffine!? If thats the case then why doesn't soda or tea make you go poop like coffee does!? What is in it that makes you want to go right away!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Same thing happens to me!. Coffee is a natural diuretic!.

From Wikipedia

Laxative/diuretic
Coffee is also a powerful stimulant for peristalsis and is sometimes considered to prevent constipation; it is also a diuretic!. However, coffee can also cause loose bowel movements!.

Practitioners in alternative medicine often recommend coffee enemas for "cleansing of the colon" due to its stimulus of peristalsis, although mainstream medicine has not proved any benefits of the practice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Poop!? Sounds like some baaaaaaad coffee!

As far as going pee, my Mom used to say that coffee was loaded with Vitamin P as a joke, but in all honesty, it is the caffeine causing the body to rid itself of excess water!.

I know it is a stimulant, so maybe that explains going to poop!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's definitely the caffiene!. I think the reason that tea or soda doesn't have quite the same effect is that coffee has a naturally higher caffiene content!.

I had to switch to de-caff coffee (and tea) to help me with this problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe it has to do with the fact the coffee is brewed fresh and the soda was bottled some time in the past and stored prior to you opening it and drinking it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I totally know what you mean! For me I look forward to my morning coffe poops!

One cup of coffee= one tiolet full of poopy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coffee doesn't affect me that way so I have no idea what to tell you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
