Question: Question about haddock (the fish)!?
I ordered fish and chips tonight from a restaurant and when I ordered it, the waiter told me that it was a filet of haddock and wanted to make sure that is was okay with me that it was this particular type of fish!. Why would he have asked me if it was okay!? What is fish and chips usually made from besides haddock!? Is haddock bad for you!? I dont know, Im just curious as to why he did this I guess !.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Haddock is fine but with the cost of foods going up they may have changed to Haddock just recently and some regular customers may expect another type of fish and may be bothered by the fact they have changed their type of fish!. Both Haddock and Cod along with Alaskan Pollock are a less expensive fish but still very tasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cod is probably more popular and familiar!. Haddock is similar, they are both white fish and would taste great in that meal!. White fish is very healthy, less mercury than something like salmon!. Of course it's a little more bad for you since it's fried, but that's not the fish's fault!. :) In the Pacific Northwest, they frequently use halibut - now that's delicious, if you ever get a chance to try it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Haddock is another white fillet type of fish and its fine to eat!. But he might have asked you that is because some people expect to have catfish fillets or whittening or another type of fish!. Haddock also, is fresh water instead of a salt water!. Its one of the most healthier fishes out there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

hake or snoek are used for fish and chips, and haddock is usually salted, and of a orangy colourWww@FoodAQ@Com
