Which do you prefer-real charcoal, or the briquettes?!
With a major grilling season upon us, which do you like to use and why!? I have the briquettes, and have never used the real lumps of coal!.!. What are your opinions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I am a former chef and prefer charcoal, briquetes tend to burn hotter and last not quite as long, and you can add more charcoal at stages and it burns faster or catches better!.
Plus briquettes are pressed charcaol, sawdust and binders and can have a more solvent based flavour if not vented properly!. But for a quick bbq like burgers or hot dogs there fine, long cooking or foods with more fat or need a more regulated cooking charcoal it is best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been grilling since the Ark landed!. Tried all kinds of charcoal, some good, some bad!. If burning oak, hickory or mesquite, to make your own coals is not an option, one can always depend on Kingsford briquettes for consistency!. (Never use "easy light" type charcoal in any brand)Www@FoodAQ@Com
