HELP!!! Safety of rotisserie chickens under heat lamps?!

Question: HELP!!! Safety of rotisserie chickens under heat lamps!?
I bought a rotisserie chicken yesterday at Walmart!. I failed to look at the time it was cooked until I got home around 6 p!.m!. I bought it at 5:35 p!.m!., but it had been sitting under the heat lamps since 1 p!.m!.! With my germ phobias, I was afraid to eat it and put it in the refrigerator!. I have heard that they should NOT be under the heat lamps for more than 4 hours!. Do you think the chicken is safe to eat!? Or should I use it for expensive dog and cat food!? Or return it to Walmart!? Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Food safety regulations require that when they keep food hot like that for extended periods, they are supposed to keep it at a temperature above that which germs grow!. There is what is called the (temperature) danger zone!. That is between 40°F and 140°F!. As long as foods are kept out of this range, they should be safe!.

I think your issue is more of whether you'll want to eat it for taste and texture issues!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
