Coley, haddock, hake, ling, plaice, pollack or whiting!.
also, if you find a price reduced whole salmon, buy it but also get the fishmonger to fillet and portion it for you: this can work out very cheap indeed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, cod is served with peas, carrots and mash as a traditional dinner!.
The cheaper fish is flathead, mullet, hake, smoked cod, carp, herring, garfish!.
Otherwise, bream, whiting, tailor, barramundi, salmon, Rainbow Trout, perch!.
These are Aussie fish types!.
Canned fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines and kippers!. Rollmops (pickled herring) is good to keep in the pantry --- less carbon footprint vs using a freezer!. There are sun-dried fish (like anchovies) or salted fish in a jar of oil, in the oriental food stores too!. Bon Appetit!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you find cod boring, then you might want to try mackerel, or sardines!. You can spread mackerel fillets with curry paste and grill them; they are delicious!
Alternatively, trout isn't very expensive, and has a really good delicate taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
