Housebrands and commercial brands - which would you get?!
For instance, supermarket brands like Giant, Kmart, Walmart for basic necessities like rice, macaroni, biscuits, tinned food!.!. would you choose a house brand over normal brands, and why!?
I am just curious - do you think housebrands have better quality food or lower quality food than other brands, and which would you purchase, given housebrand is cheaper!?
Would you buy it because it's cheaper, or not buy it cos of the same reason - how do you gauge the quality!?

It depends on what I buy!.
I know that for cosmetics I do trust some brands because they have proven time and time again without less ads maybe to be more effective anyway!. So the old method of test and try!. Dior owns L'oreal and Maybelline, etc!.!.so it is a question of who wants to be looking posh mostly for the same product!. They target different markets!. The upper market who will want to own anything with a brand name so and also poorer people who will get the same deal at a lower price!. Play on people' egos!. status etc!.!.!.!.!.but be realistic at the same time!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and get profits from all sprectrums!. Big companies are not stupid!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.! Lots of people have no clue whatsoever of the same products delivered under a different name for a lower price!. Even foreign names to fool people!. LLOLOLOL !
Food !? nope!. Gee!.!.!.!.!.!.those are like cosmetics!. One famous brand will charge you $20 and own the same at no-name for $2!.00 with no difference!.
No!.!.I do not go for brand, ads!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.etc!.!.!.!.!.!.so many people do not realise that the very same food chain owns the ones in poorer areas with exactly the same products at a lesser price and with a different name!.
i look for quality and when I see that a $10 thing does exactly the same job as a $100!.!.!.!.!.guess where I go!.
I could by 4 avocados for an expensive price at the local supermarket and they are rotten anyway!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and pay $1 in Chinatown for 10 in very good condition!.
Well!.!. won't say more!. I know some folks who work for major retail companies ( and chemistry) and they know it themselves !! it is market driven, competition, whatever!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and basically!.!.!.!.!.!.!.most washing powders under any name ARE the same lol !Www@FoodAQ@Com

I buy lots of store brands, but am selective on name brands for my ketchup (Heinz), steak sauce (A-1) and very few other items I can't recall at the moment !. !. :-) But I actually prefer the store brand mayo !. !. !. over Kraft!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I have tried a few store brands of tinned foods and the quality was just so poor I would not try again!. Pasta must be a name brand!. A few pennies more for food and save on buying store brand cleaning products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As for myself!.!.!.things you can see like rice, pasta, breads and the like, I definitely go with the least expensive!. All stores probably get those items from the same warehouse, that being said, other items like tuna, pork and beans dressings and mayo fall into the more discerning arena, and calls for personal habits, tastes likes and dislikes!.
I am a 'foodie', and I do alot of cooking and baking!. I research foods, ingredients and use my experience to determine what items such as mayo, choco chips, butters, etc!., I will buy!. For an example!.!.!.I bought house brand Albertsons pork and beans to use in my famous bean casserole!.!.!.!.!.ugghhh!.!.!.I couldn't believe how different it tasted and what was wrong with it until I pulled out the empty can, read the ingredients and discovered it has cinnamon in it!.
Sooooo, certain things, hands down, I will ONLY buy!. Some people don't cook, don't care and or it just doesn't matter much, so those people use discount items only---and that's fine for them!. It all comes down to who you are, how you cook, what you like, what's important or not, and, of course, how much you are willing to spend!. Generally, house brands rivel the expensive competitions--but check the labels, prices, try only one and see it is matters to you and your taste buds, or needs!. Plastic wrap is a good example!.!.!.!.buy a good name brand!. You have more merit when complaining to big companies rather than 'mom and pop' shops!.
