The sugar that comes out of both is the same!. Wal-Mart has a brand of sugar substitute that is the same as Splenda!. I cannot tell the difference in the taste!. It is called Altern!. Splenda is very expensive, but the Altern is not as bad!. It is made for diabetics!. Any of the processed real sugars are bad for diabetics!. You get enough on the carbohydrates you eat!. You need to get a book on nutrition especially for diabetics!. It tells you what you can eat safely and what you need to watch!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There was a big show on how sugar is made and according to them, the only difference is the source and the way the sugar is extracted!.Nothing else was different( we're talking granulated white sugar here) because I think there may have been a difference with the molasses from cane vs the sugar beet!.
Big difference in the procedure however!.
Quite interesting to see!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is my understanding that they are indistinguishable from each other and are equally bad for the diabetic!.
Whether coming from cane or from sugar beets they are still sucrose, which is a combination of glucose and fructose!. Honey, in contrast, is nearly 100% fructose, but this is not a good thing, unfortunately!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
