Answers:
"go to" meal is slang that implies a reliable, consistent, favorite meal!.
What she's saying is it's a good dish to have when you can't think of anything better, since it is a reliable, consistent, favorite/delicious dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's like when you know who to 'got to' for an answer or to have more fun or who can help you out sometime!. 'Go to' meals are meals that are like ready for you and you know you will enjoy them!. Not to say that the meals are already prepared and like mom's kitchen where the food magically appears, but you prob have the ingredients and you know it'll be gooood! and satisfying!.

A "go to" meal is something you have the ingredients on hand for that doesn't require any difficult steps to prepare and you have tried before that you know will turn out good with the ingredients you have on hand!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
She means you can just go to your pantry and fridge and get the ingredients out to make the dish, you don't have to go to the store, just "go to" your stock of groceries at home!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
