Are we using too many convenience foods?!

Question: Are we using too many convenience foods!?
I'm amazed at the amount of food being sold from the supermarket freezers these days!. Despite the fact that they're very expensive, they are obviously being consumed or they wouldn't be on display!.

I find that most of them taste horrible compared to freshly cooked food - they can't be doing much for our health either!.

Have we allowed ourselves to become too dependent on convenience foods!?
Would you serve them to your guests!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only time I buy them is when they are on sale (like say buy one, get one free), but I agree with you!. However, frozen foods are not the only convenience foods!. What about canned pasta!? Canned foods also fall into that category, and more and more people are also buying those as well which are not much better than frozen!. I don't have a problem with Frozen vegetables, considering it is cheaper to make a stir fry on those than it is to buy all fresh (even though it is considerably better tasting)!. Personally I perfer fresh mushrooms to canned, but the canned ones are cheaper, so I have to go that route most of the time!. It's not like I'm making 100,000 a year or anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

YES we as a nation are using too many of them!.!.!.!.myself personally do not use them!.!.!.!.!.I make my own "Hamburger, Tuna, Chicken Helper" recipes!.!.!.!.I do not like the taste of about any of those foods!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I learned how to cook from my mother starting at age five!.!.!.!.!.I still cook from 'scratch' and I home can foods, freeze, dry etc etc!.!.!.!.!.when I go out to eat (not real often) I go to a sit down diner and not McDonald's, Dairy Queen etc etc etc!.!.!.!.!.!.sometimes on a day off I will cook large batches of different foods and freeze them, then when I want a convenient food (quick and easy) remove from freezer and heat!.!.!.!.!.!.good for you and good tasting and not full of preservatives, sugars and fats!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would never serve a convenience meal to any guest!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Now that I am back on my feet, I continue to make these things because they are so much better!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
