Steak vs Ground Beef cooking times?!

Question: Steak vs Ground Beef cooking times!?
Why is it that we can safely eat steaks that are so rare they're still bleeding, yet ground beef has to be cooked all the way through until browned!?

Isn't there the same bacterial risk in the steak as there is the ground beef, seeing as it comes from the same source!? I've often had medium rare steaks, but never a burger that was even slightly pinkish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
because their is only bacteria on the outside of the steak, but in ground beef it's all ground up (hence the name) so the bacteria is all over!.!. and that's why you have to cook it all through, steak you only have to cook to a certain extent!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The reason why we can eat steaks rare when we have to cook the beef all the way before we eat is because of the differences in bacteria!.

All the different kinds of beef have different bacterias; some of them you don't really have to destroy it (which means that it's ok to eat) but some of them you have to burn them and eat it!.

So it just depends!.

Thaat was a very good question!.!.

Hope my answer helps!.

Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i'm not sure!. the only thing i can think of is that it comes from a different part of the cow!.!.!.

i hate pink steak though!. i'd rather have it burned than to cut into it and have pink watery fluid rush out of it!. *gets goosebumps*Www@FoodAQ@Com
