Why does salt make watermelon sweeter?!


Question: Why does salt make watermelon sweeter!?
i like putting a little salt on watermelon before I eat it!. it makes it sweeter! but why!?

Because it makes that muscle on the bottom of your tongue tighten up and make the sugar seems sweeter!. Much in the same way (but not to the same extent) a lemon effects the same muscle!. And believe it or not, they cancel each other out in recipes!. Too much salt, just add lemon!. Too much lemon, add more salt!. Go figure!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Salt is a sweetener for everything!. I love putting salt on my watermelon as well! Otherwise the watermelon just tastes dull to me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
