Getting tips at a restaurant?!

Question: Getting tips at a restaurant!?
I'm starting a new job as a waiter at UNO's chicago bar and grill!. I am supposed to do 7 shifts of training before I begin serving on my own!. Do you think I will earn tips or at least a percentage of tips during this training period!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Some places don't give you tip sharing while you are training, but I think with most franchises they split everything evenly!. It's not good in some ways because they only want really good waitstaff!. If you get more tips than you earn every night, they get ticked off!. You are entitled to at least minimum(NOT waitstaff minimum, but $7+) during training of course, by law if you are not getting tips!.

The other thing to find out is if you have to split tips with the hostess and the MOD!.

I know some good waitresses and they quit working for the chain restaurants because they had to turn over a quarter of the tips they made to the staff who weren't pulling their weight!. Because the place was cheap too they sometimes only made 10% average!. Many people think pizza places don't need to have tips!.

PS to the guy in France-- not like that here for the cooks; I wish it was!. I use to put out $10,000 of food a night with five waitstaff!. If I had gotten 2% split between me and the other cooks, I would of been very happyWww@FoodAQ@Com

no you most likely wont get tipped during the training period!. possibly after when you actually get the job you might!. it depends on how you serve, your politeness, looks, and so on!. it can also be if the person is nice or what city or country your in!. here in France, the people pay the waiters/chefs a great amount of tips!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on if they split the tips or not!. If they do you will probably get what the hostesses or bussers get!. Don't expect huge tips there, the food isn't great!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I feel you will earn a percentage of the tips during your training period!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you should at least get a percentageWww@FoodAQ@Com
