Raw chicken?!

Question: Raw chicken!?
We recently took a load of home raised chickens to the butcher!. We put them in coolers with some ice, but it took 5 hours to get them home and in the freezer!.(long story, not the plan) When I finally got them to the freezer I noticed that they were not cold (ice melted) and were not warm!. Now I am afraid to use them!. Will they be okay if I cook them until the meat falls off the bone!? Afraid I ruined the whole crop of broilers this year!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If they where cool to touch but dont smell off in anyway you should be fine to do what you want with them!. If one smells off or you juts dont want to take the chance toss them and buy new and start over!. I know its not what you want to hear but!.!.!.!.!. also next time you do this use cooler packs as well as bagged ice this way you wont run the risk of this possibly happening again!. I grew up on a Farm and its happened to us too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chicken should be alright, as long as the temp out side wasnt really hot!. With any fowl product you should always make sure the temp on them when cooked is around 180 degreesWww@FoodAQ@Com

Sure ! 5 hours isn't too long for it to spoil!.
