What makes ice cream gritty?!
I bought some cherry vanilla ice cream from the grocery store the other day!. When I sat down to eat it later that evening, I was totally disgusted by the texture; it was as if someone added a few tablespoons of sand into it!. Why, oh why was it like that!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
It could have been ice crystals!. But if they didn't melt in your mouth, that could mean the sandiness was from lactose crystals:

Temperature fluctuations and poor storage conditions can increase the size of the lactose crystals which give a sandy mouthfeel!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is probably the ice!.!. When ice cream isn't made to quality it's, icy tasting! also, it could have sat in the freezer at the store for too long!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
