Does adding salt to ice lower the surrounding temperature?!
Would this be a good way to store ice cream outdoors at a party, rather than just on regular ice!?
Does the ice have to sit above the ice-cream to chill it correctly!?
Will table salt do, or do I need a certain kind!?
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

well if you want it colder, put salt in the ice, it makes it much colder, or you could get dry ice to put in the cooler that is even colder [-30F i believe] and it's so cold it doesn't go through the liquid stage, just straight to gas, and an easier clean up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Generally when you make ice cream with a machine they have you add rock salt around the ice to bring the temp down so I would say you are on the right track!.
I believe you need a salt with substance; rock, sea salt (also sold as Kosher) and not just iodized!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
