Eating raw peas (or corn?)?!


Question: Eating raw peas (or corn!?)!?
is it true eating raw peas will give you a stomach ache because of its composition it needs to be cooked or is that my mums old wives tale!? (same for corn but peas more relevant as i dont have any raw corn lol)
does anyone else eat raw garden peas!? (or corn)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eating raw fresh peas is absolutely fine - I'm not so sure about eating raw dried peas (who would want to!?!) - they may need soaking and cooking!.

Certainly beans need to be soaked for several hours and then boiled for a while to remove toxins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Raw peas are great!.!.!.especially sugar snap peas which can be eaten pod and all!. Raw corn is also edible!. I've used small amounts in salads!. But I think corn is better cooked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

when i was young we would eat raw peas on a regular basis as we could get them from other peoples gardens and allotments and never suffered any ill effects from what i can rememberWww@FoodAQ@Com

They are fine, in fact better for you than cooked, be warned though they make you fart a lot!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
