What is the difference between gram flour and regular flour and is it a big difference?!
Answers:
Think you need to be careful what you are looking for!.
As Maryn Bittner said there is Graham Flour which is a kind of whole wheat flour!.!.!. but then there is also GRAM flour which is chickpea flour and very different from regular wheat based flours!. Sometimes this is also called chana flour!.
Look closely at the recipe and see which it is!.
Chances are if it is not a US recipe (or for a US style dish)then it will be the Gram/Chickpea/Chana flour and you can't substitute regular flour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Graham flour is a type of whole wheat flour, named for the minister who advocated its milling and consumption!.
Unlike regular whole wheat flour, graham flour separates the endosperm (the main wheat kernel) and grinds it separately, creating white flour!. Meanwhile, the wheat germ and bran are ground separately, coarser than the other, then mixed back in to the milled white flour!. It produces a flour that keeps well and has a distinctive taste and texture!.
It cannot be substituted for white flour in most recipes, although if you do, you might get some interesting results!.
Edit: KenR, I didn't know gram/chickpea flour existed!. Thanks for the information!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
