Answers:
Depending upon the amount called for in the recipe, here is how you would substitute:

1/4 cup butter or margarine= 1/4 cup Crisco shortening + 1 1/2 teaspoons water

1/3 cup butter or margarine = 1/3 cup Crisco shortening + 2 teaspoons water

1/2 cup butter or margarine = 1/2 cup Crisco shortening + 1 Tablespoon water

2/3 cup butter or margarine= 2/3 cup Crisco shortening + 4 teaspoons water

3/4 cup butter or margarine= 3/4 cup Crisco shortening + 1 Tablespoon + 1 1/2 teaspoons water

1 cup butter or margarine= 1 cup Crisco shortening + 2 Tablespoons water (from www!.crisco!.com)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes but don't use oil substitute

Butter 1 cup = * 7/8 to 1 cup hydrogenated fat plus 1/2 teaspoon salt
or
* 7/8 cup lard plus 1/2 teaspoon saltWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well, vegi shortening is much healthier than butter but it doesn't taste so good!. Try normal shortening, like crisco!. Good luck with your baking!Www@FoodAQ@Com

only cookies that call for it!. I wouldn't just exchange it!. Find a recipe that calls for shortening!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Shortening = hydrogenated oil = very bad trans fats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
