What is the FDA tomato problem all about?!
I walked into Burger King yesterday, and they said due to a recall by the FDA, they aren't serving tomatoes!. This also happened at Subway!. What happend!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

PLEASE, Everyone - It's not a recall!. It's an outbreak and an investigation into the outbreak!. FDA has only issued a warning - not a recall!.
Certain fresh tomatoes have been associated with cases of Salmonella!. FDA suggests avoiding raw romas, plum and round tomatoes unless you know where they've been grown and harvested:

It is said that a bacteria called salmonella has gotten into several tomatoes like round tomatoes and rose and red plums tomatoes!.
Salmonella is a bacteria gets get into crops probably by not washing hands or if animals used the same water wash or drink into the tomato fields!.
Some tomatoes are good to eat if they come in a plastic small casing or if they have some of their vines still intact on them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they saw traces of salmonella in the tomatoes!. they can be eaten when cooked-to kill the bacteria- but i don't think anybody wants to take that risk, so many restaurants banned them- it's like the spinach & packed salad situation- they saw traces of e!.coli so they warned people not to eat them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Apparently they have samanella or however you spell it in them!. I'm just curios how they got it in them when that particular bacteria is usually transmitted from cross-contamination of dirty surfaces usually raw foods!?

salmonella-again! Always ,ALWAYS wash your fruit and veggies! Getting a little tired of this myself!. Support your local farmers and you won't have to worry as much since they are not packed and shipped for days!. If you can't find it close to home-don't eat it!.Cripes! One people got sick from some bad very bad tomato's an now the FDA said that if amy one sales any tomato's they will have to pay a high fine!. The people at wal-mart an md's an some other rest said they will not have them on there menu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
tomatoes grown in mexico they use human manure and that it where the disease is coming from eat only tomatoes american tomatoes look on the tomatoe and see where it was grown they are restocking the tomaotes now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
