Yes, it means air got inside and the rotting process begun, the equivalent of a bruise in an apple!. Scrape black parts and enjoy the rest!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The green avocado you will get in a restaurant salad are under-ripe!. A ripe avocado's flesh will be starting to turn a little brownish (but doesn't look so good)!. If it is blackish it won't kill you, so you did the smart thing tasting it!. It no longer has the avocado taste that means it is way over-ripe!. Toss it out!.
It's better to buy one that feels hard all over, and leave it in a paper bag for a few days to ripen up (out of fridge)!.Eat it when it feels a little soft (has a bit of "give") on at least 3/4 of it!.
Are they a costly luxury item in UK this time of year!? here in Oz they grow nearly all year round, thanks to tropical Queensland!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's bruised already!. a good avocado is color green in the inside and with no pulps even!. i bought yesterday also and one is like that, so i just put it in the garbage!. what a waste of money!. but you cannot really distinguish if the inside is good or not unless you have to cut it halfly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
mhmmm!. It's definitely past it's best!. You can still eat any green bits though!. Avocado is notorious for this!. I love eating them, but sometimes it seems like a bit like Russian roulette trying to get one that's absolutely perfect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think it may be over ripe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
