Giant jars of pickles have really tight lids. :(?!
So I have this huge jar of dill pickles, and it's lid is extra tight!. I have tried the banging it on the counter trick, but I wasn't too sure on the amount of "bang" I should put on it!. I could probably wait 30 minutes until my dad gets home to eat one, but!.!.!. I'm pretty pathetic and want the pickle now!. So, yeah!.!.!. any other tips besides, breaking the jar or hitting it would be appreciated!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

take a knife and put it under between the lid and the jar, under the rim!.!.!. then lightly pull out the lid with the knife (perferably a butter knife) until the button in the middle of the lid pops up!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You have to bang it harder than you would think!. I've never broken a jar that way, so I don't think it's much of a risk!. You can also use a rubber grippy thing (like a shelf/drawer liner), rubber gloves!. I've also tried using a bottle opener to break the seal, which worked a few times, but doesn't consistently do the trick and running the lid of the jar under hot water, which seemed to help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Tap the lid with a knife gently all the way around!. sometimes running hot water over the lid works!. Of get a rubber glove like a kitchen glove and try it open it with that!. YOur hand is probably to samll to get a good grip!. You may need to have someone hold the jar between there knees tightly so not to move and use two hands!. Try the tapping stuff combined with this last tip!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Get a rag and soak it with more than warm but less than hot water!. Place it on the lid, squeeze and twist!. to get more grip on the jar try placing it between your thighs or skin!. but make sure you're squeezing it with your skin touching it!. if it's your cloths, then the jar will simply twist along with the lid!. you could try using your feet tooWww@FoodAQ@Com
Run the lid under hot water for at least 5 minutes
and/or thick elastic band around the lid for grip
Os if desperate whack the edge of lid with the back side (not sharp side) of a knife to distort the lid and break the seal!. Might take 3-5 whacks!. But the lid may not be leak proof anymore!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Take a table knife and hit the lid in several places!.
Take a piece of that grippy stuff that's used as shelf-lining or placemats!.
The rubberband thing sounds good!.
Run hot water over the lid!.
Make sure your hand is dry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have a lid twister!.
if that fails, run the lid under hot water, which will slightly expand the lid and allow for easier turningWww@FoodAQ@Com
