Fresh Pineapple?!

Question: Fresh Pineapple!?
Have bought a fresh pineapple today for the first time!. How do you know when ready !?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Oh aren't they delicious!
We just had one too and it was fun waiting for it to ripen!. They will turn a beautiful yellow color and just smell magnificent!. To add to that the fruit will be slightly squeezable, not too much though!. Then when you decide that it is finally ready, cut off the top about 1" into the apple part and also cut off the base the same way!. The stand on end and slice off the outer skin just enough to cut it away without leaving the little barbs!. This can be done in just a few downward slices exposing the fruit!. Then also it has a core!. You can slice downwards around the core and have many slices of edible fruit!. I also like the core if ripe enough and slice it in very fine slices!. Enjoy!
Did you know that pineapple used to be thought of as poisionous!? Good for us someone found out they were not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most pineapples now are ripe when they get to the market and ready to eat!. You can smell them and it will smell like pineapple - no smell, you don't want it!. You can also tell by color - the more golden vs!. green is riper and sweeter!. You don't want one that's too soft as that's about to rot if it hasn't started to already!. There used to be a trick about pulling a leaf out easily, but that has never worked for me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
