Is it OK with you that Sam's Club is selling "Enhanced" meat?!

Question: Is it OK with you that Sam's Club is selling "Enhanced" meat!?
All of the chicken I looked at and a few other items state something like "enhanced by as much as 15% chicken broth"!.

Am I wrong or are we paying a lot of money for salty water!? Not only do I not think additives "enhance" anything as well as my cooking, I don't like paying that much for water, and there is a possibility that the additional sodium may me detrimental to my health!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I agree with you!. It is BS and I will not do it again!. I knew about Wal-mart, but they are supposed to be the low cost alternative!. Sam's is supposed to have "Wholesale Restaurant Quality" available in large quantities to the public!.

I disagree with the others that have said that if you don't like it, don't buy it!. Meat should be meat and I don't want to read the fine print on every package of everything I buy!. It is deceptive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree that enhanced meat has no place in my shopping cart or kitchen!. Exactly what do they mean by chicken broth!? salt and water flavored with chicken fat or artificial chicken flavoring!? It's a shame that buying a chicken requires reading labels to check for additional ingredients!. I knew to watch labeling on turkeys, especially those that are pre-basted!. Thanks for the heads up on Sams' chicken!.

Too many companies think the consumer wants these "enhanced" versions because we don't know how to flavor our own foods!. Personally, I think if we're buying a whole chicken, good chance is we already know how to season and cook it!.

It just goes to show that as consumers, many will pay for something extra just because it is "enhanced, improved, added, etc!." irregardless of the health benefits / side effects!. Me, I prefer to salt to my taste, not someone elses!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is your choice to buy!. You don't have to buy enhanced meat!. You have the choice, as a consumer, to buy what you want to buy!.!.!. Just as the seller, in this case Wal-Mart and Sam's Club, has the right to sell what they want!.

Do I agree that chicken should have additives!? It doesn't matter because I choose not to buy chicken with additives!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

just goes to show you that we should all be informed consumers!.!.!.how many people read labels on meat!?!?! I just assume that it is 'meat' - but I don't have a Wal-Mart or Sam's in my vicinity - I shop at my grocery store!.!.!.so might not have the same problem at my meat counter -

I'll have to check - Hmmmm!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

FYI!.!.!. All the meats at Wal-mart are enhanced!.!.!. so it makes sense that all the meat at Sam's club (owned by Wal-Mart) would sell enhanced meat!.

I agree with you!.!.!. also, I feel the enhancement changes the texture of the meat, as well as the flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No it is not okay it taste terrible and is just plain wrong!. Once I took a piece of beef I had bought at walmart and put it in some water after about an hour the water was pure red and when i removed the meat it was a drab brown color!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is totally up to you what you buy !.!.!.so why does it bother you so much!?!? I think it is up to the individual!.!.!.if I want to have salty 15% broth in my meat!.!.that is my choice!. The store is just offering options for all of us!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as they tell you, there is nothing wrong with it!. If you don't want it, don't buy it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No you are right the fact that we are paying sometimes as much as $3!.00 a pound and at times upward of $13 if you like prime cuts paying for water is BS!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if its a choice between that and popping the head off a rooster myself!.!.!. I'll take the broth!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
