What is the size of a "cup" of coffee?!

Question: What is the size of a "cup" of coffee!?
Wikipedia says it's 6 oz but my Mr Coffee is calibrated in 5oz "cups" and my Braun coffee maker is calibrated in 4!.2 oz "cups"!. This is all rather irrelevant because most people drink coffee in mugs that are 12 oz or more, but it's annoying!. It must be very confusing to some people!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have a '12 cup' U!.S!. made coffee machine!. I make 8 cups of coffee and get 2!.5 cups of coffee out of it!. I measured the cups one time and they are only 4 oz!. which means when I have company I am constantly having to make another pot of coffee!. I wish the manufactors would wake up to the fact that most of us drink a lot more than 4 oz of coffee at a time!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The FDA has no official guidelines as to the serving size of coffee, but you've already stumbled across the answer: there is no answer!. Europeans tend to drink smaller cups of stronger coffee (4-5 oz) and Americans tend to drink larger cups (5-6 oz) of slightly weaker brew!. Then there's the confusion engendered by the definition of a measuring "cup" which is 8 oz!.
Whatever the size, drink an extra cup for me!Www@FoodAQ@Com

While coffeemakers vary, the standard coffee cup is generally accepted to be a 6-oz!. cup!.

But MY Coffeecups range from 16-ounces for the small cups, up to 48-ounces for the big one!.

I don't care to drink coffee from thimbles!. :-{p>
