Culinary Arts School-?!

Question: Culinary Arts School-!?
Have you been and if so, what was it like!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You learn the basics of "Food Service" cooking!. I went to a 2 year school!. I thought it was fun!.

FYI: A restaurant will not hire someone as a chef right out of school!. Chefs are managers and run the business!. These jobs usually require at least 5 years of experience as a cook PLUS college!.

If you are interested in becoming a chef, I would suggest you get a job at a restaurant!. A lot of people hate restaurant work!. Its always good to find out BEFORE you waste money on a culinary degree!. I also highly recommend getting a bachelors in business or hotel and restaurant management AND an MBA in management!. People with all three degrees have an easier time finding the BIG $$ jobs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes - I went for four months and then decided to go city college and get my B!.S!. instead!. If you are planning to go, I would recommend looking at as many *nonprofit* schools as you can!. There are public colleges and universities, as well as nonprofit private schools, that offer degrees in culinary arts!. One of the best I can think of off the top of my head is The Culinary Institute of American!. I went to one of those two-year proprietary (for profit) schools that has NO admission standards whatever!. It was one of the most miserable experiences of my life!.

"The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is a culinary school located in Hyde Park (Dutchess County, New York) USA, founded in 1946!. The CIA also has satellite campuses in St!. Helena, San Antonio, and in New York City!. It is a not-for-profit academic institution of higher learning!. The school offers traditional associate and bachelors degrees taught by the world's largest staff of American Culinary Federation (ACF) Certified Master Chefs!. The school also offers continuing education for professionals in the hospitality industry as well as conferences and travel programs!."

Cooking/chefing is a great profession!.!.!. one of most underappreciated I can think of!.!.!. but if you love it!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just graduated culinary school a year ago!. It was informative, but if you have 2 or so years of cooking experience it is unneccesary!. It basically teaches you classic technique that you may already know from work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Who Me!?!?!?, You are Teaching Me!.lol!. ThankyouWww@FoodAQ@Com
