alright, every time I eat shrimp, those things always have black sh*t on their backs, I'm always really careful about cleaning it out, but sometimes it gets through, am I going to get like E-coli poisoning from it, or something!?!? or is it harmless!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
shrimp are very simple organisms who eat plankton and have simple digestive systems anytime you bite into a shrimp your also eating a portion of it's crap, it comes with the territory, I know what your talking about you can see it in a clear tube under the shell near the tail!.!.

It's harmless, but it is definitly crap, just put it out of your mind if you eat shrimp, I think that's one reason why Shrimp aren't "Kosher" because they are bottom feeders and they are impossible to "clean" entirely, I'd be more worried about under cooking them than eating the crap they were digesting before they were plucked from wherever they came from!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ir's totally harmless!. It just turns you off!. Don't worry about it!. It does not even affect the taste of the dish you are preparing!. If you are boiling them and eating them plain, it will still not hurt you or affect the taste!. It's all in the head!. Don't worry about it, just enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've never heard of anyone getting ill from eating the "vein" of a shrimp!. As long as the shrimp is cooked and stored properly all should be well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
