Question: How to ripen a peeled unripe banana!?
I peeled a banana that was still green to see if it tasted normal eventhough it was green because I put it in a paper bag and the color didnt change!. is there anyway to make it ripen with no peel on it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The skin of the banana may be the part that produces the ethylene which causes further ripening of many fruits and veg's so if you didn't put it in the bag too, that may have been responsible (or you didn't leave it in the bag long enough)!.

Apples make more ethylene than other fruits/vegs so you might try putting one (unpeeled) in a bag with your banana for awhile!. I *think* you should be able to put bananas (though not some other fruits) in the frig and they will still ripen, so I'd probably do it there!. You might also want to acidify the outside of your peeled banana so it won't turn brown from exposure to the air!.!.!. you can do that by pouring lemon or orange juice over the outside, or there are special tablets you can buy which will do the same thing (or I've heard a dissolved aspirin works too but have no personal experience!.!.!. that's aspirin btw, not Tylenol or perhaps even Motrin)!.

It would be best if you can ripen the bananas first (place in brown paper bag NOT IN THE FRIDGE!.) Otherwise, mash bananas and add a few drops of banana essence (any good food shop should have it)!. Try heating the mashed bananas in the microwave for a few seconds before adding to the other ingredients!. Add little more sugar as well!.
