Cake question please help!?!
ok, i baked a double decor cake (using a make at home cake mix) then i cut off the sides so that it had have perfect round sides!. Then i went to frost it!. i tryed this using a cake mix from the grocery store but when i cut it and tryed to frost the sides the cake was SO MOIST it would stick to the frosting (in huge chunks!) it got me no where! i had to throw it away!
does anyone know what are really good make at home cake mixes that arent SUPER SUPER moist so i can cut and frost it easily that i can get at my grocery store!? thank you so much :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

(1) Try chilling your cake before frosting it!.
(2) Try using a small amount of your frosting as a crumb coat!. If you're using the "canned" frosting, just zap part of the can in the microwave for like 10 seconds to soften it up a little and put that on the cake!. Expect some crumbs!. Then chill the cake!.
Then frost with the remainder of the frosting after the crumb coat has set up really well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It might have needed to cool completely, and you might try stirring up your frosting a little!.!.!.I've had this happen when the cake is still warm and the frosting is too stiff!.

I use Duncan Hines cake mix and have never had a problem!. My daughter and I make cakes all the time!. I wonder if you let the cake bake long enough!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
