Why do they make vegetarian foods taste like meat?!

Question: Why do they make vegetarian foods taste like meat!?
I don't understand why certain vegetarian foods are made to resemble the look or taste of real meat!. Isn't that missing the point!? If some choose not to eat meat to avoid cruelty to animals or feeling animal products are not healthy to consume, then wouldn't they be hypocrites for eating food that resembles real meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey man, I love your train of thought!.
you'd be a cool person to have a conversation with!. And you're totally right!

Lol on the topic of vegetarians, I went veg for a few months but it was more to loose weight!. WROONG train of thought!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all, there are many reasons to not eat meat!. Being vegetarian on moral basis is only one!. Being vegetarian or simply cutting down on meat for health reasons is another, as is just being grossed out by the look of raw meat!. Another reason is for religious reasons, such as people who keep Kosher and either don't live somewhere where they can buy Kosher meats or want to use milk products in a dish (Kosher laws prohibit mixing milk and meat)!.

The meat substitutes are made so you can substitute the products into traditional recipes!. It doesn't actually really taste or look like meat, especially when uncooked!. Unless you're worried about cruelty to soybeans, it isn't hypocritical at all!. Hypocritical is telling people you're a vegetarian and then stopping off at a McDonalds drive-though for a cheeseburger on your way home from work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some people have eaten meat in the past, and choose to be vegetarians due to the cruelity done to animals!. They usually do not become vegetarians because they want to exclude protein from their diets!. So those who have had meat, may like the taste, texture, or both!. Often companies will make the food appear as meat, so that they can get the benefits of eating something that is healthy, fits for their conscious, and still alloisws them to eat something simular to what they used to!.

A prime example of this would be veggie burgers, resembles a hamburger!.

It's kinda like someone who is against wearing fur, or leather, but get clothing that is made of something that can look like it, like man made materials now a days can look like leather, and almost feel like it!. They are still saving the cruelity to the animal wearing stuff like this!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I went vegetarian because of animal suffering in the meat industry, not because I dislike the look or taste of meat!. I don't think there's anything unethical about the shape of burgers or enjoying the taste of meat; it's the cruelty to animals that I don't agree with!.

Fake meats are full of protein and they allow me to enjoy vegetarian versions of my favorite non-veg foods!. I'm not supporting animal farms or slaughterhouses, so I don't see anything hypocritical about eating faux meats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People can like the taste/ look and feel of something even when they know it isn't healthy!. If the point is just to not eat meat, then they don't miss the point!. As for avoiding animal cruelty, doesn't the existence of such things make the argument to become vegetarian more persuasive!? If you can eat essentially the same things you do now but without contributing to animal cruelty, wouldn't you want to do that!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

because most vegetarians don't chose not to et meat because it's not good they just don't like the fact that it takes killing of an animal to make meat!. so they wouldn't mind eating meat if they didn't kill animals for it and they can't do that if all of they're food tastes like just vegetables!. to be able to eat healthy without it actually being fattening or meat is really cool to meWww@FoodAQ@Com

well !.!. (am not veg, at all :P ) but i think when they do that (make the taste like meat!.!.) its just like when they make a fat free food !.!. or fat free Maionase or sugre free choclate or artificial sweetners!.!.!.it tastes the same but it doesnt have the same fat or sugar or what ever they are avoiding !.!.

Veg dot eat meat because they think its not ethical !.!. though it tastes good !.!. so its about the principle not the taste !.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First, even though they TRY to make them taste like meat, none of them have been successful yet!.

Secondly, many people who become vegetarians, give up meats not because they stop liking the taste, but because they want to get healthier!. They're just looking for a meat alternative!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No,
because they may like the taste of meat, but they gave it up BECAUSE of the cruelety towards the animals!. If it just resembles it, it's not being a hypocrite because no animal had to get killed to make it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I feel the same way!. Human nature is never improving!. I hate fake meats!. Obviously, vegans are really into animals!. They are like cute little rabbits, who have pointed teeth and ready to tear off cow's back!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is because a lot of vegetarians choose not to eat meat on ethical, moral or religious reasons, not because they do not like the taste of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Weird, huh!? I don't get it either!. I guess it's for vegetarians who used to eat meat and crave the taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

meat tastes good!. fake meat is just an ethical/healthier alternative!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

some vegetarians give up meat for the animals sake but that doesn't mean that they don't like the taste of itWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes I feel so bad for those soybeans!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hate it or love it!.!.!.meat tastes good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

cause meat tast good no matter whtWww@FoodAQ@Com
