Can Someone Tell Me What Goat Tastes Like?!
I am a big fan of eating lamb and mutton!. But I have never had the opportunity to try goat meat!. Can anyone please tell me exactly what it tastes like!? I suspect it tastes similar to lamb but I am not sure!. Am I right!?
Yes, I have gotten the standard answers like "It tastes like goat" and "It tastes like chicken!." Why does any unfamiliar meat taste like chicken!? I have heard that goat is best served grilled or barbecued!. I have been told it is very tender, juicy, and delicious!. I'd love to try some goat, especially shish kebobs!.
Are there any Latin Americans, Eastern or Southern Europeans, Middle Easterners, or Africans out there who can describe the taste of goat to me!? Maybe using descriptions of the familiar to define the unfamiliar!. Any help would be greatly appreciated!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Kids (goats under a year of age) are often slaughtered when 3 to 5 months of age and weighing from 25 to 50 pounds!. Kids do not store much body fat until they are about a year of age!. Many goats are older and heavier when marketed, but most, except aged cull goats, are slaughtered when less than a year of age!. The meat of older goats is darker and less tender, but more juicy and flavorful than kid!. The meat from males is lighter in color and lower in fat!. The meat from females is more desirable for steaks and chops, and is more tender!.
That is the best I could come up with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Goat tastes like a really tender steak all the time!. Never tough always good!. Never like chicken!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
It is a very mild tasting meat, so it's hard to describe it!. The only comparison to chicken would be the mild flavor, not the texture!.
We pit cooked one after wrapping it in a sheet and dousing it with apple juice!. Yes, tender, delicious, juicy!.!.!.they all work!.
Every time I tried grilling it the end result was very dry!. My fault, I'm sure, not the goat's!.!.!.
The shish kabobs were awesome - I marinated the meat and veggies in a Jack Daniel's store bought sauce for about two hours!.
Good in stews, too!.
The meat is not really distinctive, so it's hard to describe!.!.!.it picks up the flavors of the marinate or basting sauce, so don't overdo them!Www@FoodAQ@Com
