Is it possible the meat was not bad and we will not get food poisoning?!

Question: Is it possible the meat was not bad and we will not get food poisoning!?
I am extremely worried that myself and my 2 young preschoolers are going to get food poisoning!. I took a tube of processed beef out of the freezer and ran it under cold water to defrost!. Then it was browned!. We all ate it!. My husband came home from work and told me he had left it out all night the other day and had put it in freezer to throw away later!.
Do you think we will get food poisoning if it is processed meet never unwrapped until we cooked it, and also it was cooked brown!. also, what is the soonest we could start feeling sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
the fact that you cooked it should protect you from most of the pathogens out there!. If it was stinky of discolored then there may be a problem!. If the meat product was full of toxins and the bacteria was killed by cooking, you would probably already be showing signs!.

If the preschoolers vomit, become feverish or have diahrea then take them and any leftovers to the ER!. Be very specific why you think they may have food poisoning!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My best guess is that you will probably all be OK!. If it didn't smell or taste funky it probably hasn't reached a true 'rotten' stage!. Not super fresh, but probably won't make you guys ill!. If it was a pretty good size tube of beef, it may have not been fully thawed when your husband threw it back in the freezer!.
(why did he do this - just chuck it then or put a note by the meat not to eat it!)!.
A lot of food poisoning is not so much from old food, but food exposed to bacteria or food that goes bad super fast like seafood and eggs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is possible that if any bacteria grew on the meat that you killed it when you cooked it but some bacteria is more difficult to kill or cannot be killed through cooking!. Your husband should have thrown the meat out immediately!. Bacteria thrive on moist warm surfaces!. You will see or feel symptoms within 48 hours if it was bad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The meat turned brown (or atleast the exposed surace) maybe only due to oxidation!. And this is still safe to eat!.

A better way to determine meat spoilage would be check its odor, and whether it is tacky/slimy to touch!. And I dont think you observed these characteristics since you proceed with cooking it anyway!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's possible, if you don't worry and take care of what you eat, i totally think it's possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
