Professionals don't use it, so Why is non-stick cookware so popular among amateur cooks?!

Teflon puts off fumes when heated that are actually toxic!. I work in a professional kitchen and we only use non-stick pans for making omelets!. We use stainless steel for everything else!. Aluminum isn't that great to use, either, because it's soft and acidic foods can leach the aluminum out of the pan and into the food!. We just make sure to use enough oil or butter in the pan to keep stuff from sticking!. Stuff doesn't stick and clean up is easy!. The pans go through the dishwasher!.

unless you cook for a living or have plenty of time to take care of your cookware, convenience goes before ultimate perfection!.
I consider myself a pretty good cook, but so far, I have not tasted a difference between a meal done in a cast iron skillet and one done in mine!.
And until my taste buds fine-tune to taste the difference!.!.!. I'll opt for the cookware I can rinse off with hot water and pop back into the cabinet to the one I have to soak forever and can't even use dish washing liquid on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Easy cleanup I personally don't like it ,and when overheated they produce fumes known to kill small pets , like birds!.Old fashion cast iron pens are my favorite and cooking with them adds iron to your diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because amateur cooks tend to burn things and aren't as talented with cooking techniques as professionals!. Hence the need for non-stick cookware!. At least, that's my excuse!. lolWww@FoodAQ@Com
