I've just eaten tamarind...?!


Question: I've just eaten tamarind!.!.!.!?
i didnt realise that it's actually an ingredient and i was eating it like a dried fruit off the block!. i love the flavour of it!.

is this ok to eat on its own or will i give myself a tummy upset!?
also are there any nutritional benefits of eating this!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's perfectly fine to eat on it's own, I wouldn't personally do it because it's really tart, but if it makes you happy go for it!.

I don't know any particular health benefits, but there aren't really any drawbacks to eating it, especially since it's a significantly important spice in jamacian, and asian cuisine, and lots of mexican candies are made from it, and in hispanic communities in the US you can buy a super sweet tamarind drink (tamarindo) made with it's pulp and plenty of sugar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am not sure about any nutritional benefits, other than it is a fruit, so it cant be that bad!

edit: i find if u eat too much then my leg cramps!. this is the stuff that comes in the block!. not the stuff that comes in its original form, inside a little shell!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
