Have you changed your diet because of the increase in prices at the grocery store?!
Answers:
Not yet but it is possible!. Here in UK meat, dairy foods (not milk prices so much, milk has always been fairly cheap in UK compared to other countries) and also vegetables and fruit are increasing weekly!. Put that together with the increase in petrol (£1!.21 litre), electricity and gas and suddenly it hits you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, but not in the way you would think!. Our household shops off-the-cuff: if we see something we like, we buy it!. I look for deals, but my husband never looks at prices!. But lately, in the past couple of years, we've been noticing how much value we've been getting for our money and changing our buying habits to conform to that!. By value, I don't mean cheaper, I mean better!. I started to really notice the food we threw out and now buy food to prevent that!. For example, I used to think a celery bunch was pretty cheap, especially on a per-unit basis!. But we'd rarely use an entire bunch and so we'd actually pay for a bunch but use 2-3 stalks!. That's not only expensive, it's wrong!. So now I only buy 2-3 stalks when I know I need them - more expensive on a per-unit basis but cheaper in absolute terms!.
Another item is that we're pretty disgusted with what's available for fresh meat and produce at the grocery store!. Now that it's summer, we buy all of our necessaries at the farmer's markets, straight from the producers!. It may be comparable in price, but the value, that is, the quality, is enormously better!.
And so, we have changed our diet, and for the better, and it is indirectly due to the higher-prices-but-not-better at our grocery stores!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
