how can it be organic aint all cows the same!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
It is how they are raised: no hormones, no questionable foods, allowed to roam freeWww@FoodAQ@Com
The grass on which the cows graze is not treated with pesticides!. Plus the welfare standards of organic milk are extremely higher than your bog standard milk!. The cows must have access to grazing land for a minimum amount of time, there are more vet checks and so on!. So it is more ethical to buy organic milk!.
Some cows are literally kept in the same upright position all day whilst being milked by a machine continuously!. I think it's disgusting!.
I only buy organic dairy now!. And I do actually think it tastes nicer, it has a smoother quality to it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

In the case of milk, 'organic' refers to what they're feeding the cows, and how the product is handled!. The best way to get the details would be to contact an organic dairy; but there are four basic requirements - 1) no BST/BGH, 2) no use of antibiotics, 3) organic feed (basically, pesticide free), and 4) at least some pasture time (how much is not specified)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Organic does mean that the cow is "better," rather, it means the cow has not been treated with hormones and chemicals, and therefore the milk doesn't have the hormones and other synthetic agents in them!.!.!. its a question of what's in the milk, not how good it is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
the organic milk is drawn from cows that have not been fed on anything involving chemicals!.
So it is not the cow that is organic, it is the milk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

All cows aren't the same - some are fed grass - what they are supposed to eat! And some are fed all sorts of chemicals, grain, and even meat believe it or not!!

Actually in a matter of speaking, yes!. Organic cows are better as they are not given any antibiotics which many industrial dairy cows are often daily as a matter of course to help them deal with the stressful and crowded conditions and rarely being outside!. Industrial cows also might not see the sun, eat much grass (which is the diet they were meant and built to eat), or get much exercise!. They are often in herds of thousands while organic cows will often be in herds of less than a 100!. Organic standards mandate access to pasture although some dairies owned by big corporations are remiss those are being watched by the Cornucopia Institute and made to comply even if that requires bringing suit against them!. They have a milk scorecard to help make better choices at the market!.
A dairy cow must give birth to be able to produce!. Those calves are taken away immediately from industrial cows and given a milk replacement which often includes blood from the slaughtered cows!.
An industrial dairy cow can also be fed chicken litter and other animal by-products including blood which along with the corn and soy she isn't designed to eat can cause liver abscesses and sudden death syndrome!. She'll also be given hormones (rBST/rGBH/Posilac) to make her produce more which can cause her to burn out quicker and to get many more infections which allow pus to enter the milk!. There are concerns that those hormones are not healthy for humans and indeed very few studies were done on them before being approved by the FDA which had members on the approving agency from the company that makes it!. All other countries ban the hormone!.
Organic cows can only be fed with certified organic feed and pastures so there is no chemicals (including most pesticides, herbicides, petro-chemical fertilizers, fungicides) in their food and their food cannot be genetically modified!.
The milk from organic cows is much healthier with higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids and other nutrients such as vitamin E and beta carotine!.
also, an organic cow can produce well for a decade while many of the most industrial cows are lucky to make it through two seasons before being sent to slaughter!. Those are the cows that were seen on the video released just this last year that caused the biggest recall of meat ever!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
