Why do i get such strong cravings?!

Question: Why do i get such strong cravings!?
I gave up smoking a few months ago which i'm really proud of :] But i keep getting these really strong cravings for food!. Like i'll eat something savoury then i'll need chocolate, and then sometihng savoury again and i just crave the different flavours etc!. Do you think this is from the giving up smoking or could it be something else!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It might be related to smoking, but I have the EXACT same problem with very strong alternating cravings for sweet and savory and I've never smoked in my life!. The most effective way I've found to deal with it is to eat a small bit of whatever it is I'm craving and then brush my teeth!. That will often break the craving cycle for a while!.

Good job on breaking the smoking habit!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's a combination of quitting smoking (cravings) and actually regaining your taste buds!!! Things that you couldn't taste or weren't as flavorful before (when your taste buds were numbed by nicotine) are now tasting amazing to you so you're craving more types of food and flavors!

Everything in moderation - remember! You don't want to get in the habit of replacing cigarettes with food!.

I quit over 2 years ago (yay for me!) and whenever I got a craving, I popped a piece of gum in my mouth!.

Good luck!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it is because you've quit smoking!. Along with the withdrawl from nicotine, your body is also withdrawing from oral fixation!. You've become used to having a cigarette in your mouth so know you're substituting something different!. Be careful, as this is normal, eating too much can lead to another health problem!. When you're craving something try eating fruits/veggies, exercising, etc!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is definitely from giving up smoking!.
I'm going through the same!.
You must remember that you have been smoking every day!. Your body is used to regular supplies of nicotine!. It craves the drug!. But you are not giving it any!. So you feel like eating so many things!.
Chew a piece of gum, rinse your mouth with mouth wash, call your support network, munch on unsalted sunflower seeds, or go for a walk!. It might help!.
Gd luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Might be just your taste buds coming back and wanting to try all the flavors again!.
I quit 2 months and one day ago and it feels great to be free of the cigarette flavor in my mouth!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think it's something else!.

Have you tried drinking coffee to suppress hunger!?
You could always talk to your doctor about it (:Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it is probably from quitting smoking ( Yea, way to go) try snacking on raw vegetables!. My fav are baby carrots!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
