OMG youve never tasted them!.
But no they don't taste like wine!. Originally, i believe, that they were made from gelatine and wine!. They were given to children in the workhouses to give them protein and keep them warm!. The different colours come from the different wines - yellow was white wine, red was rose/red!. Nowadays people have just coloured them any colour, and they no longer use wine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, they don't!. As a small child, wine gums were my idea of what wine must taste like!. It should be a crime to mislead children in this way!
Wine gums are just chewy fruit flavoured jelly sweets, not quite as soft as jelly babies, but not as hard as fruit gums (do they still make fruit gums now Nestle has bought out good ol' Rowntrees!?)Www@FoodAQ@Com

They don't really!. I think they're called them because they may have trace amounts of alcohol in, or perhaps they did once!. also, names like 'Port', 'Sherry' and 'Whiskey' are written across all of the gums!.
They do taste slightly more like wine than your average fruit gum!. They're really nice, actually!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, they are fruit flavoured, and it also says that on the packet!.
According to Wiki:
'The name comes from the lingering, subtle fruit flavours that make it "similar to the experience of savouring a fine wine" '
Make of that what you will!Www@FoodAQ@Com
