Is it ok to leave your crock pot on high for 8 hours?!

Question: Is it ok to leave your crock pot on high for 8 hours!?
I am making taco soup and I just pretty much throw a bunch of stuff in the pot!. I turned it on high this morning before i left for work!. Will it be ok if I leave it on for that long or will my house burn down!? I live really far away and cannot go home to check it!. Rude and hateful comments will be reported!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just be sure there's enough water in the pot that it won't boil off and leave what's left to scorch!. That's your only real danger!. A crock pot doesn't get hot enough to burn your house down, as long as you didn't leave it sitting next to or on top of something flammable!.

I'd be more inclined to turn it to Low or Medium while you're not at home, then switch it to high for an hour or so when you get home for work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your house should be fine!.
The meat in the soup on the other hand may be a little gritty from overcooking!.

However, taco soup sounds delicious!.
Did you make it up or is the recipe available online!?
Thanks!. :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am not sure if it is totally safe, but we have done it several times before!. Common sense tells you though that it may be a little unsafe!. It should be ok though as long as there is nothing around it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you put plenty of liquid in there, it should be fine !.!.!. although the meat & veggies on the bottom will be burntWww@FoodAQ@Com
