Does brown sugar come in different shades?!

Question: Does brown sugar come in different shades!?
I usually buy Domino's brown sugar (NYC), but noticed that their brown sugar is now a slighter lighter shade, close to being even light brown!. Those of you who buy brown sugar regularly, and hopefully even from other brands, do you notice if your sugar comes in varying colors!? Or is it always the same dark brown!?

Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes!.

Brown sugar contains from 3!.5% molasses (light brown sugar) to 6!.5% molasses (dark brown sugar)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Brown sugar has always come in two major "Shades"
You can buy "Dark brown sugar" and you can buy "Light brown sugar"
The difference between one and the other is the amount of molasses in the mix!. Of course, the more molasses, the darker the sugar!.
I make my own brown sugar by simply stirring a little molasses (1 tablespoon) into (one cup) white granulated sugar!. Voila! Brown Sugar!.
It doesn't really matter which one you use!. Why recipes distinguish between one and the other seems irrelevant to me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe they've changed there manufacturing process but
sugar does come in different colours due to the refinement process and the addition of molasses white sugar been the least refined through to demerarera and moscovada white sugar is the sweetest whereas moscovado will be less sweet due to the addition of the molasses!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well there are two different varieties!. One is called light brown sugar so by default the regular brown sugar is considered dark brown!.

From company to company and over the years the shading varies!. I am sure the moisture content in the sugar has the same effect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Brown sugar is white sugar combined with molasses, which gives it a soft texture!. The two most common types of brown sugar are light and dark!. The lighter the brown sugar is, the more delicate the flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

there is light brown too!. i have some havent seen dark dark brown sugar in ages!. u must have uk light brown sugar lolWww@FoodAQ@Com
