What can I use in place of Golden Syrup?!

Question: What can I use in place of Golden Syrup!?
I need it for at least two recipes that I plan on making- but the store doesn't carry it!! I was wondering if something like light corn syrup or something would work!.!. I'm making candy and a treacle tart if that helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
A little corn syrup and brown sugar are fine, the Golden Syrup is a UK type of corn syrup made from sugar, and is a bit stickier than the regular corn syrup, and has a sharper flavour!.

I am former chef, not a master like Mr Jupiter, I have had 20+ years of experience around the world and use Lyles here in Canada from the UK, and treacle can be replaced with regular molasses, if you have none of that, use the same as for the golden syrup recipe, the tart will not be as dark, but just as nice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

there is a product called "Mrs!.Renfro's syrup" it comes in a pint jar and is labeled as such ,it contains treacle(golden or refiners syrup) other wise use half light Karo and half dark Karo ,with a small touch of unsulphured molasses, and this should work out just fine ,especially with the candy !.oh yeah you can also try the local co-op they may carry it as wellWww@FoodAQ@Com
