Legally (in UK) you are within your rights to humanely kill and eat Magpies, but I was speaking to an old bloke who foraged to survive during World War 2 and he says they aren't very nice, not much meat and too stringy and chewy! He recommended taking the babies out of the nest (the evil man!) as they are nice & tender! As it's now half past July you'll be lucky to find any of those!.!.!.!.!.!.
Why don't you tame a Magpie and train it to catch food for you!? small rabbits or squirrels or something!? They are supposed to be really intelligent!. Just a thought!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I imagine magpies can be cooked just like any other small bird!.!.!.if you boned it properly and skinned it, you might be able to roast it over a spit!. Do you have a grill!?
Magpies are also a part of the Rook family, and they are definitely edible, so you can do it!. They also eat other birds' chicks, so those little buggers don't stand a chance!.
If you're really interested, though, I'd set up a humane trap!.!.!.don't rush at them with a BB gun and a net!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Magpies were a regular meal in the North East post war years, they were shot with crows and put in pies, the gamekeepers used to kill them before they (magpies) killed the fledgling pheasants etcWww@FoodAQ@Com
I would imagine they are edible but have never seen a recipe for them!. I have eaten rook though and must admit I did not think much of it!.
