Question: What is it an what's the point of blood sausage or black pudding!?
please I wasn't really given a good answer of what it is
and why is it called thatWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Black pudding is made from pigs blood, cereal and fat!. The fresh blood is strained, add cereal - wheat - and the solid fat of the pig is diced fairly small and added to the mix, seasoned, poured into skins it is then boiled!.
As for the 'point' nothing is wasted when a pig is slaughtered, the blood is an important source of iron and vitamins!.
It's called black pudding because that's what it is a pudding that is black - its as simple as thatWww@FoodAQ@Com

It appears you have asked this question before and were not satisfied with your responses!.

I grew up during WW 2 in Scotland and have been an expatriate for 60 years!. I do recall as a child, if we had the money to buy black pudding, then Sundays we might have black pudding, Ayrshire bacon, fried eggs and fried soda scones!. The treat was better than any great Christmas Dinner!. Perhaps nostalgia but whenever I find black pudding then I buy it and cut it into two inch pieces and freeze it!.

Besides nostalgia, the flavour is everything!. I believe it's called black pudding because of the colour and in Old England puddings were pies or sausages of all types!. Using the term blood sausage was not too tempting in the UK but much used term in Europe!.

I can't buy soda scones here but on a trip to the UK I found a cookbook at one of the Airports with the recipe in it!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.now I make my own scones and freeze them as well!. On occasion I will take out a scone and a piece of black pudding and fry two slices of bacon & one egg, sunny side up and really enjoy a Sunday brunch and remember my parents and grandparents!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is made from, amongst other things, blood and it is the blood that makes black pudding black!. I really love black pudding, one of my favorites!. I love to eat it either on a roll with tomato sauce, or as a meal alongside some lingonberry jam (or a sweetish cranberry sauce as an alternative)!. I have been told it is nice with apple sauce as well, but I haven't tried that as yet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's a way of using the blood from an animal which would otherwise be completely wasted!. This way, mixed with oatmeal and fat it makes a VERY nutritious foodstuff!. It's obviously call BLACK because that's more or less the colour it is after it's been cooked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because, people like to eat it! its cheap to make stops waste and tastes nice,
and its called black pudding because well, its a type of pudding and its black thanks to all the clotted blood!Www@FoodAQ@Com

As above!. The good old black pudding is always the food I quote, whenever anyone tries to make out that it's only "foreigners" who eat weird and wonderful stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
