How long do fresh tomatoes last before they should be thrown away?!
When do they lose their nutrition!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
You can eat tomatoes as they are, straight off of the 'vine' - or as long as they haven't started to go mouldy or have burst through mishandling once picked!. Signs of shrivelling also mean they should be discarded, but apart from that, there's not much to worry about!. Remember that green ones are simply unripened red ones and are suitable for cooking, and that there is a strain of yellow ones which are the same as red ones except - unsurprisingly - for the colour ! ! !Www@FoodAQ@Com
Tomatoes are edible and nutritious right up until they start to look strange and smell funny!. You'll know when you've waited too long!.
Tomatoes are BEST the second they are ripe, either from the vine or after a day or two in a cool, dark place in your kitchen!. They're absolutely delicous raw with just a dash of salt and pepper, sliced in salads, stacked on sandwiches, or served chilled as a breakfast side dish!.
An instant, last-minute side dish for even the fanciest dinner is to slice small tomatoes into bite-sized pieces, then martinate them in the fridge in some good balsamic vinegar and olive oil for about 20 minutes!. Sprinkle on a little basil or parmesan cheese, and it will complement just about any dish!. Everyone will rave about them!.
Of course, they can be cooked any number of ways—just see most any Mexican or Italian recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They will not lose nutrition until mould appears!.
They can be kept in the fridge for about 2 or sometimes 3 weeks!.
The sell/use by dates are short because the supermarkets know many people throw them away and buy more when its not necessary!. And on some occasions one bad fruit can contaminate the others and the whole batch will go off!.
If they are "on the turn" but not mouldy you make a salsa with them, that will last for about one week!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
