What is the correct way to eat a coconut?!
idk any other way than to just break it open on the stairs and pluck the inside out with a butterknife!. is there an easier way!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
First I bake it lightly in the oven to soften it up!. Then I put it in the sink with a towel over it and break it open with a hammer!. I then use a knife to cut out the yummy insides!. But if I wanna keep the juice(I kinda like the taste of the coconut water so I drink it ) After I've heated it up a I use a hammer and a large nail(cleaned of course) to open a hole in it a drain the water before I break it open!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
This isn't much of an easier way but it is how people eat them in Asia!.
In essence, the coconut is consisted of two parts, the soft outer skin (the husk) and the hard round inner "ball" that contains the actual meat and water of the fruit!. To properly open and eat coconut, at least in my country, consisted of opening up the soft outer skin first and then cutting open a small piece of the top inner ball!.
Here's how to do it:
1!. Position the coconut upright (the pointy part at the top)
2!. Cut a flat portion of the rounder part at the bottom to stabilize the fruit!.
3!. Cut a cone shape, or pyramid shape a quarter way from the top, creating a pseudo triangular shape!.
4!. Cut the top of the triangle to reveal the innards of the fruit!.
5!. Scoop with spoon and drink with straw!.
Step 3 is the hardest part of them all!. The triangle head shape has to be precisely (or at least) grace the inner ball of the fruits (see the picture I post at source section to see the cutaway picture of a coconut)!. You need to have a very sharp blade, or a medium size machete to do so!.
You can easily buy a "stripped down" coconut at any supermarket or grocery store!. They have prepared a coconut that has been stripped of the husk and the only cutting needed is at the top pointy thing!.!.!. But where's the fun in that!?
And actually you can judge the sweetness of the meat and water of the fruit by looking at the color hue of the coconut's full skin!. The darker green it gets, the older it is, meaning the meat will be thicker (not good, it will be hard to chew and a pain to scoop) and the water will be a bit tasteless!. The lighter green means that it is young and finding the right balance of greens will nett a sweet tasting water and softer fruit meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not really and easier way unless you have a big machette!. You have to work for it!. Getting it off the shell is the hardest part, so I just buy the stuff already cleaned!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
