Why are meat eaters so hypocritical?!

Question: Why are meat eaters so hypocritical!?
Why do meat eaters considerate it "okay" to eat a cow or a pig or whatever but evil and cruel to eat a dog or cat!? Are all animals not equal!? Both animals are slaughtered and there is no such thing as a less vicious or less demeaning slaughter so don't give me that!.I don't think people that eat dog or cat should be dehumanized because not everyone shares the same feelings that you do about cats/dogs in some countries they are not considered as domestic pets and are viewed the same way as any other meat yet they catch a lot of flack for that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Obviously you are speaking of American opinion!. I'm sure we share the opinion of not eating dogs and cats because we keep them as pets!. We do not have to eat cats and dogs because we have an abundance of other foods and animals to choose from!.

I may not agree to eating dogs or cats but I am intellegent enough to know that it does exist elsewhere!. And partly because of the economics of the area and their food supply!. Hunger is a strong driving force!.!.!.even Americans would eat dogs or cats if they were hungry enough!.

What I do object to is the illegal slaughtering of endangered/any animals for some stupid oriental, high priced health remedy or aphrodisiac!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is not hypocritical it is simple a matter of cultural norms that have been established!.

In some cultures (such as ours) a few animals are meant to be pets and others for our food supply!.

In other countries they do not make such distinctions and do eat what we would consider pets!.

In other cultures some animals are considered sacred!. Like in India the cow is considered sacred and hence is not eaten!.

In other cases this is religious!. For example: Buddhist, some Hidus and Hari Chrisnas do not eat meat whatever!. In other cases such as Muslim and some orhtadox Jews do not eat pork!. This dates back to pre refrigeration but this cultural norm still remains today!.

There you go this has to do with cultural norms not hypocracy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you said it yourself, every culture has their own belief about what animal should be eaten and which are domesticated!. its really what youre brought up to believe and by the way not everyone is like that!Www@FoodAQ@Com
