Clam bake question?!
Over the weekend I got a outside smoker I was wondering if you could do a clam bake in it and how and what would I put in it!. I have never been to one or had one so I need as many pointers as possible and recipes and how do you set it up!. also is there clam bakes that have lobster and meat in them!? Lobster Clambake
INGREDIENTS
1) 2 lobsters
2) 1/2 lbs!. small potatoes
3) 2 corn on cob
3) 3) 1/2 T!. ground black pepper
4) 3 lbs!. scrubbed steamer clams
5) 1 1/2 lbs!. cleaned and de-bearded mussels
6) 1 1/2 lbs!. large shrimp
7) 1 1/2 sea/kosher salt
8) 2 C!. dry white wine
INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure you have a large stock pot!. Layer the ingredients on top of the onions and garlic in the stockpot in the following order: potatoes, corn, kosher salt and pepper, clams, mussels, shrimp, and lobster!. Pour in the white wine!.
Cover and cook over medium heat for approximately 15 minutes or until the steam starts to escape from the lid!. Lower heat, and cook for another 15 minutes!. The clambake is done when the potatoes are tender, the lobsters are cooked, and the clams and mussels are open!. Heat up some butter to serve as a dip!.
Because lobsters may differ in size we suggest cooking the lobsters separate!. Refer to chart for cooking time for lobster!.

1 lb!. to 1-1/4 lbs!. 15 minutes
1-1/2 lbs!. to 2 lbs!. 17-20 minutes
2 lbs!. to 3 lbs!. 3 lbs!.20-minutes
3 to 6 lbs!. 24-28 minutes
6 to 7 lbs!. 28-30 minutes
8 lbs!. & up 4 minutes per pound

you'll need some burlap sacks or seaweed or bananna leaves!. you can do a clam bake directly on a bon fire as long as it isn't too big!. soak the sacks, or whatever you have in water!. make a bottom layer with that over the hot coals, then add your shellfish and whatever else you are cooking!. then cover with additional sacks or whatever and it will steam and bake and smoke all at the same time!. it's really easy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i dont know about your smoker but im going to one catered in a few weeks and the menu is lobster, steak, swordfish, or chicken!. And they also make hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
