What are some of the local /traditional dishes of your country?!


Question: What are some of the local /traditional dishes of your country!?
i am originally from trinidad so mine are pelau (rice and peas cooked together with meat)!. callalloo ( which is like a spinach soup but not quite), curry crab and dumplings, OIL DOWN (which is basically breadfurit(a local fruit) steamed with coconut milk and saltmeat) AND ROTI

sunday roast - meat and veg with gravy!.

toad-in-the-hole -sausages covered in batter!.

shepards pie - minced lamb and vegetables topped with mashed potato!.

cottage pie is the same but with beef not lamb!.

english breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, mushrooms, baked beans!.

black pudding - made from dried pigs blood and fat!.

spatzle!!! (pronounced spetchla) its just egg and flour with some seasonings, it has to get to kinda doughy consistancy then you can put it on a cuttign bored and make it into little peices and put it into boiling water or use the spatzle maker for it then usually serve it with brown gravy and porkWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm from the South and we like frying stuff!. batter dipped yellow squash is a favorite of mine!. also fried green tomato's, and fried chicken!. homemade biscuits and gravy, BBQ ribs!. just a few!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am originally from Quebec, Canada (now living in the US) and there is a very popular dish there called Poutine!. It is basically french fries with cheese curds and brown gravy!. Sounds disgusting but it tastes so good!Www@FoodAQ@Com
