How do you pick a good cantaloupe?!
Answers:
LOL I'm glad you asked, as I am always at a loss in the produce section when it comes to melon picking! Something about thumping them, but I always feel awkward and wonder if I'm doing it right! Oh and I think you press the blossom end for some reason, I think it's supposed to give slightly!? Anyway, it's usually hit or miss for me with those things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Look at the skin to make sure is not all green!. also, Smell is a very good indication of how ripe something is!. Just smell the little button spot on the top of the melon!. If it smells sweet is ready to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You look at the skin, it should be brown, and dry!. It also should smell like at a cantaloupe, if it doesn't then run !.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well this works for watermelons, but pluck the cantaloupe and see if it sounds hollow!. Hope I helped!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Thump it- supposedly the more hollow it sounds, the riper (and therfore sweeter) it is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
